Our Services

Our beginner's class offers a supportive environment to learn the basic self-defense, body mechanics, and breathing techniques of Hakko Denshin Ryu. It's perfect for those seeking physical fitness, self-improvement, or a new hobby.
$35 per class
Our black belt class is for experienced students seeking advanced training. You'll refine techniques, explore complex movements, and delve into philosophy. As a leader in our community, you'll inspire others and share your knowledge.

Sensei Alex Mendiola
Alex Mendiola, a Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) in Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu, brings over two decades of experience to Koyashi Dojo. With a Master's Degree in Secondary Education, Alex combines traditional martial arts teaching methods with modern approaches to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Alex's passion for Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu began in middle school when he discovered Tai Chi. After years of exploring different martial arts, he found his true calling in Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu under the guidance of Hanshi Scott Evans. Alex believes that this art has shaped him as a martial artist and instilled in him the values of care, calm, confidence, and community.
As an instructor, Alex is committed to helping students of all ages and abilities reach their full potential. He believes in the power of positive, constructive feedback to guide students toward excellence. Alex's dedication to his craft is evident in his ability to connect with students personally and create a welcoming atmosphere for all.
